Badlands Federal Credit Union originally was named Dawson County Co-Operators Federal Credit Union and was started.
The original field of membership
"The field of membership will be limited to those having the following common bond of association, occupation or residence: members of the Farmers Union and the Farmers Union Oil Company of Glendive, Montana, who reside within a radius of 25 miles of Glendive, Montana; members of their immediate families; and organizations of such persons."
January 14, 1976
The Board of Directors approved the change of the Credit Union's name to Badlands Federal Credit Union.
February 20, 2015
Glendive Public Employees Federal Credit Union and Badlands Federal Credit Union merged, leaving Badlands Federal Credit Union as the surviving Credit Union.
Our current field of membership
The field of membership shall be limited to those having the following common bond:
- Persons who live in Dawson, Prairie, or Wibaux Counties, Montana; persons who work, worship, attend school, perform volunteer services, or participate in associations headquartered in Dawson, Prairie, or Wibaux Counties, Montana; persons participating in programs to alleviate poverty or distress which are located in Dawson, Prairie, or Wibaux Counties, Montana; incorporated and unincorporated organizations located in Dawson, Prairie, or Wibaux Counties, Montana, or maintaining a facility in Dawson, Prairie, or Wibaux Counties, Montana; with the community meeting the low-income definition of Part 701.34 of the National Credit Union Administration Rules and Regulations; (revised 8-16-04).
- Members of record of the Glendive Federal Credit Union #14851 as of March 1, 2015;(App. Voluntary Merger – 4/20/15).
- Spouses of persons who died while within the field of membership of this credit union; employees of this credit union; members of their immediate families or households; and organizations of such persons."
